Venue History
Completed in 1926, the Lincoln Alliance Bank transformed the Rochester skyline with its soaring tower, coned spire, and commanding presence over Main Street. Four decades later, after narrowly escaping demolition, it was reimagined as Arbor Midtown, a restored grand ballroom that preserves the building’s historic grandeur with renewed elegance.
Lincoln Alliance Bank, circa 1926
Located in the heart of downtown Rochester, Arbor Midtown reimagines the grand ballroom of the historic Lincoln Alliance Bank. Many of the building’s original 1926 details remain, including natural travertine flooring, marble-clad columns, hand-sculpted wall friezes, and floor-to-ceiling windows, all carefully preserved through a meticulous restoration. Once abandoned for years, the ballroom was thoughtfully transformed with a brighter, more refined aesthetic, while the grand staircase, made from the second escalator ever built in Rochester, remains one of the venue’s most distinctive historic details. When you arrive at the top of the grand staircase, this historic bank turned luxury event space has crystal chandeliers, art-deco tiling, and brass details throughout.
